岸本聡子

Satoko Kishimoto is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Suginami Ward in Tokyo. Born in Ota Ward, Tokyo, she spent many years living in Europe, where she worked for the Transnational Institute, an international policy think tank, focusing on issues such as the remunicipalization of water services. She returned to Japan and was elected Mayor of Suginami in 2022, becoming the first woman to hold the position. Her political platform emphasizes participatory democracy, environmental sustainability, and social diversity, including the introduction of a partnership system for LGBTQ+ couples. She has authored several books on public services and local autonomy.
