Babul Supriyo is an Indian politician and playback singer currently serving as a Member of the Rajya Sabha representing West Bengal. Born in Uttarpara, he began his career as a playback singer in Hindi cinema during the 1990s before entering politics in 2014. He previously served as a Union Minister of State in the Narendra Modi government and as a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. After initially being associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, he joined the Trinamool Congress in 2021.
