Barbara Keeley is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since August 2024. Previously, she was a Member of Parliament for Worsley and Eccles South from 2005 to 2024. Throughout her parliamentary career, she held various shadow ministerial roles, including Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Social Care and Shadow Minister for Music and Tourism. A long-time advocate for carers' rights and social care reform, she has consistently campaigned for improved standards in residential care and better support for vulnerable populations. Before entering national politics, she served as a councillor on Trafford Council and worked as a systems engineer for IBM.
