Kate Dearden is a British Labour and Co-operative politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Halifax since 2024. Born and raised in Bingley, she holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh, where she was active in student politics. Before her election, she worked extensively for the trade union Community, rising to the position of Head of Research, Policy & External Relations. In addition to her parliamentary duties, she has served as an Assistant Whip and as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment Rights and Consumer Protection. Her political focus includes addressing the cost of living and advocating for workers' rights.
