A long-time public servant in Weld County, she previously served 19 years as a County Commissioner and held the role of acting director of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. Kirkmeyer is known for her conservative policy positions, including her support for abortion restrictions and her past leadership in the 51st State Initiative. She was the Republican nominee for Colorado's 8th congressional district in 2022 and is currently a candidate in the 2026 Colorado gubernatorial election.
