Cindy O'Laughlin

Cindy O'Laughlin is an American politician serving as the President Pro Tempore of the Missouri Senate since 2025. First elected to represent the 18th Senatorial District in 2018, she previously served as the Senate majority leader, becoming the first woman to hold that position. A member of the Republican Party, O'Laughlin has focused her legislative career on education reform, including the promotion of school choice and charter schools, and has taken conservative stances on healthcare policy and social issues. Before entering politics, she was a business owner in the trucking and ready-mix concrete industries and served on a local school board.
