Barbara West Carpenter

Barbara West Carpenter is an American politician and academic serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for the 63rd district, a position she has held since 2015. In addition to her legislative work, she serves as the dean of international education and university outreach at Southern University. Within the House, she chairs the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee and is an active member of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus and the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus.
