Ben Ray Luján is an American politician serving as a United States Senator from New Mexico since 2021. A self-described progressive Democrat, he previously represented New Mexico's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2021, where he served as Assistant Speaker. Before his congressional career, Luján was a member and chairman of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. Throughout his tenure, he has focused on renewable energy, health care reform, and Native American issues.
