The son of motorcycle racer August Auinger, he began his career in karting before transitioning to formula racing, where he notably won the 2000 Formula König championship. Throughout the 2000s, he competed in various series, including the German Formula Three, Formula 3000, and the FIA GT Championship. He retired from professional motorsport following his success in the 2009 Suzuki Motorsport Cup.
