Betty McCollum is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 4th congressional district since 2001. A member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, she is the second woman elected to Congress from Minnesota and has served as the dean of the state's congressional delegation since 2021. Before her federal career, she worked as a high school teacher and retail manager, and served eight years in the Minnesota House of Representatives. McCollum is known for her progressive stances on reproductive rights, environmental protection, and social security, and she currently serves on the House Committee on Appropriations.
