Birendra Prasad Baishya

Birendra Prasad Baishya is an Indian politician from Assam and a prominent member of the Asom Gana Parishad. He currently serves as a Member of the Rajya Sabha, having been elected to the upper house in 2008 and again in 2019. Throughout his political career, he has held significant roles, including serving as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha following his election in 1996 and holding the position of Union Minister of Steel and Mines. Beyond his legislative work, Baishya is actively involved in sports administration, notably serving as the President of the Indian Weightlifting Federation.
