Boris Pistorius

Boris Pistorius is a German politician who has served as the Federal Minister of Defence since 2023, maintaining his position in both the Scholz and Merz cabinets. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), he was elected to the 21st Bundestag in 2025 representing the Hannover II constituency. Previously, he served as the State Minister for Interior and Sports in Lower Saxony from 2013 to 2023 and as the Lord Mayor of Osnabrück from 2006 to 2013. Known for his focus on security policy, modernization of the Bundeswehr, and a firm stance against extremism, he is widely regarded as one of Germany's most popular political figures.
