Brigitte Onkanowa

Brigitte Onkanowa is a Gabonese military officer and politician currently serving as the Minister of National Defense. A career officer in the Gabonese Gendarmerie, she achieved the rank of major general and became a prominent member of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) following the 2023 coup d'état. She has held various high-level government positions, including roles in the transition government and the national constitutional committee, and was elected to the National Assembly in 2025.
