Born in 1978, he holds a B.A. (honours), a B.Ed., and an M.A. in English from Calcutta University and Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. Before entering politics, he worked as the headmaster of an aided higher secondary school. He was elected to the assembly in 2026 as a candidate for the All India Trinamool Congress, winning his seat by a significant margin.
