A member of the Republican Party, he previously served in the Georgia State Senate from 2013 to 2023, where he chaired committees on insurance, labor, and banking. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Jones is an oil and insurance executive. Throughout his political career, he has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, advocated for conservative policies such as the Riley Gaines Act, and is currently a candidate in the 2026 Georgia gubernatorial election.
