Buti Manamela

Buti Manamela is a South African politician serving as the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology since July 2025. A long-time member of the African National Congress (ANC) and the South African Communist Party (SACP), he previously served as Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Deputy Minister in the Presidency. Manamela rose to prominence as the inaugural national secretary of the Young Communist League and has been a member of the National Assembly since 2009. He holds a Master's degree in public policy and is a member of the ANC National Executive Committee.
