Parks Tau

Mpho Parks Franklyn Tau is a South African politician serving as the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition since July 2024. A prominent member of the African National Congress, he previously served as the Mayor of Johannesburg from 2011 to 2016 and held various executive roles, including Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Member of the Executive Council for Economic Development in Gauteng. Throughout his career, Tau has focused on urban development, technocratic governance, and economic policy, notably championing the 'Corridors of Freedom' agenda during his mayoral tenure. He is a member of the ANC's National Executive Committee and has been a long-standing representative in both local and national government structures.
