He served four terms as a Senator of the Republic representing the Radical Change party, and previously served as a Member of the Chamber of Representatives for Valle del Cauca as well as Secretary of Government for the Department of Valle del Cauca. Recognized for his extensive legislative career and as a critic of President Gustavo Petro, his tenure in Congress concluded following the 2026 legislative elections.
