Cavalier Johnson is an American politician serving as the 45th mayor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, since 2021. He made history in 2022 by becoming the first African-American elected to the office. Prior to his mayoral tenure, he served on the Milwaukee Common Council from 2016 to 2022, including a term as Council President. His political career has focused on community outreach, public safety, and addressing urban infrastructure challenges such as reckless driving. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
