Chris Coons

Christopher Andrew Coons is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Delaware, a position he has held since 2010. Before his election to the Senate, he served as the county executive of New Castle County from 2005 to 2010. Educated at Amherst College and Yale University, Coons previously worked as in-house counsel for W.L. Gore & Associates and held various roles in nonprofit organizations. A member of the Democratic Party, he is known for his committee work on appropriations, foreign relations, and the judiciary, and he is widely regarded as a key ally of President Joe Biden.
