Christine Blower, Baroness Blower

Christine Blower, Baroness Blower, is a British trade unionist and politician who has served as a Labour member of the House of Lords since 2019. She previously held a prominent career in education and trade unionism, notably serving as the first female General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) from 2009 to 2016. Throughout her career, she has been a vocal critic of standardized testing, the academies programme, and free schools, advocating for a well-resourced, state-led education system. She was nominated for a life peerage in the 2019 Prime Minister's Resignation Honours.
