Claire Coutinho is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for East Surrey since 2019. A member of the Conservative Party, she previously held Cabinet office as the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero from 2023 to 2024. Following the 2024 general election, she was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero and later took on additional responsibilities as Shadow Minister for Equalities. Before entering politics, Coutinho worked in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and as a special adviser at HM Treasury. She is known as a close ally of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and a strong supporter of Brexit.
