Claudiu Târziu is a Romanian politician and journalist currently serving as a Member of the European Parliament. Born in Bacău in 1973, he previously co-founded and led the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) before resigning in 2025 to establish the Conservative Action (ACT) party. A former senator, Târziu is known for his right-wing, nationalist, and socially conservative views, including strong support for Orthodox Christian values and opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage. Throughout his career, he has worked as an investigative journalist and director of the publishing house Rost.
