Daisuke Miyajima is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Sasebo. Born in Sasebo, he graduated from Hitotsubashi University and began his political career as a member of the Nagasaki Prefectural Assembly. He subsequently served two terms in the House of Representatives, during which he held the position of Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense under the Noda Cabinet. After returning to the prefectural assembly, he was elected mayor in 2023. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with several parties, including the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party of Japan, and the Democratic Party for the People, before eventually becoming an independent mayor.
