Kazumi Ota is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture. Born in Kashiwa, she began her political career as a member of the Chiba Prefectural Assembly before serving three terms in the House of Representatives. During her time in national politics, she was associated with the Democratic Party of Japan and later the Liberal Party, often identified as part of the 'Ozawa Girls' faction. Known for her opposition to nuclear power and the consumption tax increase, she transitioned to local government in 2021, becoming the first female mayor of Kashiwa. She was re-elected to the position in 2025.
