山本景

Kei Yamamoto is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Katano, Osaka. After graduating from Osaka Toin High School and Wakayama University, he founded an IT company before working at Shinkin Central Bank and Nomura Securities. He began his political career as a member of the Osaka Prefectural Assembly and later served two terms as a member of the Katano City Council. Elected mayor in 2022, Yamamoto has focused on municipal policy shifts, including the review of school consolidation plans and the introduction of community bus services. His tenure has been marked by efforts to reduce administrative costs, such as the auctioning of mayoral office furniture and his official vehicle, as well as vocal opposition to certain Osaka Prefecture-led initiatives like the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo school invitation program.
