Masafumi Sasaki

Masafumi Sasaki is a Japanese politician, lawyer, and tax accountant currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Born in Niihama, Ehime Prefecture, he graduated from Tohoku University and later earned his law degree from Soka University. After passing the bar exam, he practiced law in Sendai, focusing on disaster victim support following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as addressing domestic violence and labor issues. He was elected to the House of Councillors in July 2025 as a candidate for Komeito, where he secured the highest number of individual votes in Hokkaido within the proportional representation block.
