Dale Gilbert Caldwell is an American academic administrator, author, and politician currently serving as the Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State of New Jersey. Elected in 2025 as the running mate of Mikie Sherrill, he became the first male to hold the office of Lieutenant Governor in the state. Prior to his political career, Caldwell served as the 15th President of Centenary University and held various leadership roles in education, including the New Brunswick Board of Education and the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey. A licensed local pastor in the United Methodist Church, he has also been a prominent figure in sports administration, notably serving as the first Black president and CEO of the United States Tennis Association's Eastern Section.
