Darin LaHood is an American politician and attorney serving as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 16th congressional district since 2023, having previously represented the 18th district from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served in the Illinois Senate from 2011 to 2015. LaHood is a fiscal conservative who serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party. His career includes experience as a prosecutor in Tazewell County and the District of Nevada, as well as private legal practice. He is the son of former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood.
