David Baines

David Baines is a British Labour Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament for St Helens North since 2024. Before entering national politics, he worked as a primary school teacher and served as a councillor for the Windle ward, eventually becoming the leader of St Helens Council and Deputy Mayor of the Liverpool City Region. In Parliament, Baines has focused on education, SEND provision, and transport infrastructure. He is also a prominent advocate for men's mental health and paternity leave, and serves as the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Rugby League.
