A Republican, he was first elected to the state legislature in 2010 and has since been re-elected to multiple consecutive terms. Before his legislative career, Maloney worked as a carpenter and served on the Oley Valley School Board from 2006 to 2009. In 2023, he was appointed as the Republican chairman of the House Game and Fisheries Committee.
