David McGuinty

David McGuinty is a Canadian politician and lawyer who has served as the Member of Parliament for Ottawa South since 2004. Currently serving as the Minister of National Defence, he previously held the portfolios of Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Before his election, he was an environmental lawyer and the CEO of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy. A member of the Liberal Party, McGuinty also served as the inaugural chair of the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians, where he oversaw significant reports on foreign interference in Canadian democratic processes.
