David Skaith is a British politician who has served as the first-ever Mayor of York and North Yorkshire since May 2024. Raised in Harrogate, he studied sport at York St John University before establishing a menswear business in York. Motivated to enter public service following the death of his father during the Covid-19 pandemic, he joined the Labour Party in 2015. His political platform focuses on regional infrastructure improvements, such as upgrading the A1237 road, expanding affordable housing, and increasing police presence.
