David van Weel

David van Weel is a Dutch civil servant and diplomat currently serving as the Minister of Justice and Security in the Jetten cabinet. A member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), he previously held various ministerial roles in the Schoof cabinet, including Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Asylum and Migration. Before his ministerial career, he served as an advisor to Prime Minister Mark Rutte and as an Assistant Secretary General at NATO, where he focused on innovation, cyber defense, and hybrid threats. His political priorities include strengthening societal resilience against geopolitical tensions, combating organized crime, and enhancing the rule of law.
