Denay Jock Chagor

Denay Jock Chagor is a South Sudanese politician who served as the Governor of Jonglei State from July 2020 until his removal in May 2024. A member of the Lou Nuer community, he previously held the position of Minister of Higher Education in South Sudan starting in 2019. Chagor was a prominent figure within the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) and served as the leader of the South Sudan United Movement (SSUM). His political career has been marked by his involvement in the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and various leadership roles within the opposition coalition.
