Hussein Abdelbagi

Hussein Abdelbagi Akol Agany is a South Sudanese politician currently serving as the Vice President of South Sudan. A member of the Malual Dinka tribe and son of the influential Sultan Abdelbagi Akol, he previously served as the chief of general staff of the South Sudan Patriotic Army. He was first appointed as Vice President in 2020, becoming the first Muslim to hold the office in the country's history. After a brief period as Minister of Agriculture and Food Security in 2025, he was reappointed to the vice presidency in 2026.
