Don Beyer is an American politician, businessman, and diplomat serving as the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 8th congressional district since 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 36th Lieutenant Governor of Virginia from 1990 to 1998 and as the United States Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 2009 to 2013. Before entering public service, Beyer was a successful automotive dealer. Throughout his congressional career, he has been a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and has focused on issues including economic policy, technology, and gun control.
