Donavan McKinney

Donavan McKinney is an American politician serving as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives since 2023. Born and raised in Detroit, he earned a bachelor's degree in public policy from the University of Michigan. Before his election, he worked as a legislative director, a community engagement specialist, and a union organizer. In the state legislature, McKinney has focused on environmental justice, utility regulation, and public safety, notably securing funding for lead pipe replacement and community violence intervention programs. He is currently a candidate for Michigan's 13th congressional district in the 2026 election.
