Chung Dong-young is a South Korean politician and journalist currently serving as the 44th Minister of Unification. A veteran legislator, he has been elected to the National Assembly five times, representing the Jeonju district. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished career as a reporter and anchor at MBC. Throughout his political life, he has held significant leadership roles, including serving as the chairman of the Uri Party and the Party for Democracy and Peace, and was the presidential candidate for the United New Democratic Party in 2007. Known for his reformist stance and focus on inter-Korean relations, he has remained a prominent figure in South Korean liberal politics for decades.
