Donna Deegan is an American politician and former broadcast journalist serving as the mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, since 2023. She made history as the first woman to hold the office. Before entering politics, she had a long career as a television news anchor at First Coast News and founded The Donna Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women with breast cancer. A member of the Democratic Party, Deegan ran for Congress in 2020 before successfully winning the mayoral election in 2023. Her administration has focused on infrastructure, public safety, childhood literacy, and community unification.
