Renard Johnson is an American politician and businessman currently serving as the 53rd mayor of El Paso, Texas, having assumed office on January 6, 2025. As the city's first Black mayor, he has prioritized economic development, property tax relief, and fostering a collaborative vision for the city council. Before his political career, Johnson spent four decades in the federal contracting industry, founding Management and Engineering Technologies International Inc. (METI Inc.) in 1994. He has also been active in civic leadership, serving on the boards of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Texas Cultural Trust, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (El Paso branch).
