Dorothy Thornhill, Baroness Thornhill, is a British politician and life peer who served as the first directly elected mayor of Watford from 2002 to 2018. As the first female directly elected mayor in the United Kingdom and the first from the Liberal Democrats, she was recognized for her long-standing tenure and influence within her party. Before entering national politics, she worked as an assistant head teacher for over 25 years. She was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2011 and was created a life peer in 2015.
