Previously, he served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Moray from 2017 to 2024 and held the position of Leader of the Scottish Conservative Party from 2020 to 2024. Before his full-time political career, Ross worked as a dairy farmer and a professional football referee. A staunch advocate for British unionism, he has consistently opposed a second referendum on Scottish independence while supporting various federalist reforms. He has announced his intention to stand down as an MSP at the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.
