Ed Husic is an Australian politician serving as the Member of the House of Representatives for the seat of Chifley. A member of the Australian Labor Party, he made history as the first Muslim elected to the federal parliament and the first to serve as a government minister. Between 2022 and 2025, he held the position of Minister for Industry and Science, where he focused on technological initiatives and artificial intelligence safety. Before his parliamentary career, Husic was a prominent union official with the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union.
