Eiichiro Washio is a Japanese politician and a member of the House of Representatives, currently serving his seventh term. Born in Niigata City, he began his career as a certified public accountant and tax accountant before entering politics. Initially elected as a member of the Democratic Party of Japan, he later became an independent before joining the Liberal Democratic Party in 2019. Throughout his career, he has held several government positions, including State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Washio is known for his conservative policy stances, including support for constitutional reform, the restart of nuclear power plants, and a cautious approach toward foreign residents' local suffrage. He has also served as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Environment.
