Eleanor Chávez

Eleanor Chávez is an American politician currently serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives for the 26th district. Born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, she holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington. Before returning to public office in 2022, she worked extensively as a community organizer and served as a director for the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees. Her legislative career includes a previous tenure in the New Mexico House representing the 13th district from 2009 to 2013, as well as service on the New Mexico Public Education Commission.
