A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ), she previously chaired the SPÖ in Tyrol from 2016 to 2018 and has held the position of Second Vice President of the Tyrol Landtag since 2022. Before her full-time political career, she worked as an architect in Vienna and Lienz. Blanik is recognized for her long-standing service in local and regional government, having been re-elected as mayor multiple times.
