Eric Schmitt is an American politician and attorney currently serving as a United States Senator from Missouri since 2023. Previously, he served as the 43rd Attorney General of Missouri from 2019 to 2023 and as the 46th State Treasurer of Missouri from 2017 to 2019. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Missouri Senate representing the 15th district and served as an alderman in Glendale, Missouri. A member of the Republican Party, Schmitt is known for his conservative policy positions, including advocacy for tax cuts, opposition to the Affordable Care Act, and legal challenges regarding COVID-19 mandates.
