A citizen of the Muscogee Nation and a lifelong resident of Oklahoma, Harris previously worked as an attorney and served on the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Board. He also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Oklahoma. Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tuskegee University, as well as a master's in public administration and a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma.
