Erik van Heijningen

Erik van Heijningen is a Dutch jurist and politician currently serving as the acting mayor of Alphen aan den Rijn since October 2025. A member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), he has held numerous public offices, including serving as a municipal councilor in Spijkenisse, an alderman in Dordrecht, and a provincial executive in South Holland. Beyond his political career, he has worked as a public prosecutor and a state councilor at the Council of State. Van Heijningen is also deeply involved in international sports administration, notably serving on the executive board of World Aquatics.
